Code of conduct

FutureBlitz is for people who want to make things, whoever they are and however much they know. This code covers every space the project runs: its GitHub repositories, its Discord server, the package registry, and anywhere someone speaks for the project.

Be good to each other

  • Be patient with newcomers. Everyone’s first program was a “Hello, world!”.
  • Disagree about code, not about people. Criticize ideas specifically and kindly.
  • Assume good faith, and ask when something’s unclear.
  • Credit others’ work, and say so when you’re wrong.

Not here

  • Harassment, insults, or personal attacks, in public or in private messages.
  • Discrimination or slurs about anyone’s race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, appearance, or experience.
  • Sexual content or advances, and violent threats.
  • Publishing someone’s private information without their permission.
  • Spam, and packages meant to deceive or harm the people who install them.
  • Repeatedly disrupting a conversation after being asked to stop.

Reporting

If someone’s behavior breaks this code, tell a moderator on the Discord server, or the project’s maintainers. Reports are kept as private as dealing with them allows, and the person reporting won’t be punished for a report made in good faith.

What happens

Moderators and maintainers decide what’s needed, from a private word, to a warning, to removing messages, to a temporary or permanent ban from the project’s spaces, and for the registry, removing packages. Someone who’s banned can ask for it to be reconsidered once, by contacting the maintainers.

This code draws on the Contributor Covenant’s ideas, in our own words.
